A new year and I am still under 2k page views.

Very fair because I never did a good public relation work here in dA, but I think I would change it.
I do believe I have some great and unique things that might interest a lot of people, the problem is that they just don't know I exist. (A "visualization problem" as a marketing person would say).

However, after starting to "spam" my alien icon around, I have observed that dA is unconsciously becoming another popularity gathering site. Come on, to find friends, share photos of pets or bloging, we already have sites as facebook, myspace and orkut.

OK, dA is a community site, no problem with that, but in my understanding this is a community site about ART, so ART has to be the center of the attention.

The popularity rush is plaguing the dA system. Some people comes, not to share art, but just to be gain popularity. I heard already a person saying that he does "that kind" of art because it easily attracts more hits to his page.

Worse, the major problem is the "social pact" made, where users "trade" status (hits/comments/favs/watchs) between them. "Fave me, and I fave you" and so on.

It looks fair, but I think it is very wrong.

Fav, comments and so, has to be given to persons you really think deserve it, to show your real appreciation form his/her work. It should never be used as a trade money.
This aspect is already stated in the thumb share forum.

I don't specifically want to be famous or popular.
At the same time, as a (pseudo) artist I really love hearing opinion about my pieces for the simple satisfaction of the recognizement of my work. And wish more people come to my gallery to say what they think.

So here is the deal:

- Please, DO NOT WATCH me, nor FAV, COMMENT, or ever visit me if you expect something in return, because most probably you won't get, not even a "thanks" (read below).

- If you ever post something to me, you already gained a subjective and automatic "Thank you very much". If I got something interesting to say I will reply, but never with a vain simple "thanks".

- Please, DO NOT FAV, COMMENT IT!
Fav doen't means nothing to me as it adds nothing to the discussion. I do prefer you to write a comment, saying why you liked it.

- Please COMMENT only if you urged to say something.
The comment doesn't need to be always clear, most of time its pretty difficult to organize the thoughts. But I will expect more than a plain "I liked/disliked it". It is not only "constructive criticism", I want to hear also sincere opinions or what you feel seen my work.

I understand all this thing sounds very rude and anti-social. I am very sorry for that, I think being popular is nice, however I don't want to be popular doing what I think is not right.

From my part, I will keep posting my acid comments around, almost randomically, because I do it just when I feel something interesting has to be said.
And if you are lucky enough to get my attention, expect a very detailed and sincere comment about your work. Who ever read any of my comment, can confirm that.

Maybe I am fated to the anonymity, anyway.

If you managed to read this message until the end, please say VERBALLY "OK" to your monitor (don't reply, nor post anything).
If you disagree with something or think its a lot of crap, just ignore.

Thank you very much.
